Classic roof window

Our classic roof window suits almost any pitched roof, making your space feel brighter, bigger, and more comfortable. It’s especially well-suited for small spaces, bathrooms, and staircases. Choose between a variety of materials, glazing options, and operating styles, allowing you to tailor the roof window to your preferences.

Low pitch roof window

Our low pitch roof window is designed for roofs with a shallow pitch between 10°-20°, commonly found in single-storey extensions. They bring in twice as much daylight as a vertical window, transforming even the lowest-pitched rooms into bright, welcoming spaces.

How to elevate different spaces with our individual roof window solutions

VELUX individual roof windows give you plenty of opportunities to transform your different small spaces at home. Here are some ways you can use individual roof windows in various compact rooms with great effect:

Hallways and staircases

Even narrow staircases and hallways benefit from the touch of a single roof window. Strategically positioned, it draws daylight into areas that are often dark, creating a sense of openness and enhancing safety.

Bathrooms

Even a compact bathroom can feel inviting with the right roof window. A single VELUX roof window fills the room with daylight, instantly lifting the atmosphere while maintaining privacy. Beyond light, it provides a simple way to bring in fresh air, reducing humidity, and keeping the space feeling crisp. Choose a white maintenance-free finish to keep the internal frame well-protected against humidity.

Spare bedrooms/extra guest rooms

If you’re renovating a small spare bedroom or converting a small unused space into an extra guest room for when you have your family or friends staying overnight, installing a roof window can have a significant impact. It delivers both ventilation and natural daylight that opens up the space and makes it feel more welcoming.

Frequently asked questions about VELUX individual roof windows

What is the smallest VELUX roof window?

The smallest VELUX roof windows are designed for compact spaces like en-suites or tight staircases. They provide daylight and ventilation while fitting into small roof areas. Exact dimensions start at around 55–60 cm in width, making them perfect for smaller rooms without compromising on light or air. For rooms with more space available, we recommend opting for larger windows or even combining multiple VELUX roof windows to maximise natural daylight and create a bright, airy atmosphere.

Can I combine single roof windows for larger daylight coverage?

It is, of course, possible to install multiple roof windows in the same area to enjoy larger daylight coverage. If you want a larger, more unified roof window solution that maximises daylight coverage in a single area, we recommend our side-by-side or 3in1 roof windows.

Do you need planning permission for installing an individual VELUX roof window?

Some roof window installations are classed as Permitted Development, however it’s best to check on a case-by-case basis. In some cases, you can install VELUX roof windows without planning permission, especially when replacing an existing roof window or in certain loft conversions. Always check your local council rules for Permitted Development to be sure, as regulations can vary depending on building size, location, and roof type.
